Trial Periods Over

Gate had been Newcastle United's reserve team captain before being released by the Premiership side a few months ago. Rumours had linked him with a move to Saints and he had turned up for a trial last week, but it seems the interest has cooled. He's now trying to win a deal at Bradford, who he was apparently with earlier in the summer.

Saints boss Gus MacPherson had planned to take McStay with the squad to Italy, however as the club are still there and McStay has now appeared at Manchester United's feeder club in Belgium, it would seem he won't be signing for us either.

With the departure of fellow trialist Sammy Morrow to an Irish side last week, it seems there are no more trialists with the squad at the moment. It also seems the moves for Stephen Glass and Jim Mcintyre have fallen through, so it could be a while until we make another signing.
