The curious case of Stephane Bahoken

Last updated : 06 January 2014 By Stuart Gillespie

Bahoken was borrowed from the Ligue 1 side at the end of August but he made just four appearances before being sent home. He failed to score in any of those games and didn't do anything of note, the club confirming last week he was off and wouldn't be back.

However, that might not be the case after all. Nice have been trying to send Bahoken on loan to Bastia in Ligue 2 but have been denied as he's already played for the maximum allowed number of clubs this season. As a result, they intend sending him back to us.

The whole situation sounds a bit strange and you have to wonder what benefit there is to Nice or Bahoken if they give him back to us. Danny Lennon clearly has no plans to play him, so he'll be at a club far away from home where he has no chance of playing.

Perhaps Nice plan to return him to paisley so he'll continue paying his wages, which would be a huge blow to Lennon's plans for the January transfer window as it would eat into what is left of his budget.
