Shuggy nears the end

There were rumours the Pars were interested in the 31-year-old - who has been at Saints his entire career - yesterday and Lennon has now confirmed this is the case. The arrival of Jim Goodwin from Hamilton meant it was always likely a midfielder would be moved on and sadly it looks as if it will be Shuggy.

Lennon said: "Jim McIntyre phoned me and he is very keen on Hugh Murray. We have given Hugh permission to speak to him. So it's down to the boy, we are not forcing him.

"At the same time, with the quality I have coming into the midfield area, he is going to be down the pecking order at this minute, although that can sometimes get the best out of people.

"He has been a fantastic servant to the football club. It's not a foregone conclusion. He is a great professional and he is a pleasure to work with on a daily basis, he always has a smile on his face.

"It's just part and parcel of football, coaches have different ideas on what they look for in players and sometimes a change for people is good."

Here's hoping if Shuggy does goes the fans will get a chance to give him a great send off.

UPDATE: It now seems Hamilton also want Murray, probably to replace Goodwin. Hopefully, as the club have some sort of say in this, they won't allow Shuggy to move to one of our rivals.
