Scotland 1-0 France

I still can't believe it. Exactly two years ago today, Scotland suffered a terrible defeat at home to Norway under the idiot that was Berti Vogts. Even a year ago, we lost at home to Belarus.

Despite that setback, Walter Smith has worked wonders with near enough the same group of players Vogts was using. Respectability has returned to the Scottish national side thanks to one of our greatest ever victories. Considering this France side beat Italy - the world champions - last month, can we now class ourselves as unofficial world champions?

I was against the appointment of Smith and would rather we went for Gordon Strachan. I freeely admit I was wrong. Smith, with Tommy Burns and Ally McCoist, has turned our national side around and have has marching back up the world rankings.

We're in the group of death but have somehow taken nine from nine. Could Mission: Impossible be achievable?

Meanwhile, Macedonia were held to a draw at Old Trafford by a plucky England side. The Macedonia manager must surely be sacked.
