McAlister is something we are desperate for - a creative midfielder. If memory serves me right he seems to be able to play on the wing and if we can get him it would be a real boost for the squad.
Chances are Morton will be after a fairly sizeable fee for McAlister and they'd probably want more from us than anyone else considering the rivalry between the two clubs. It's a surprise to see us linked with a player like this as we've got no money to spend and Morton would probably be looking for a fee in the region of six figures. The previous interest from Watford and Unirea Urziceni - who amusingly gubbed Rangers in the Champions League this season - could also jack up the fee.
Worth noting this rumour comes from the Daily Star, which is surprisingly accurate when it comes to Saints rumours!
Elsewhere, Saints boss Gus MacPherson says he's hopeful of making a few signings before the transfer window closes next week, possibly on loan.
