Saints Take Heath On Trial

Last updated : 14 June 2005 By Stuart Gillespie
Heath currently plays for Ridgeons League side Halstead Town in Essex. He is club captain there and recently signed a new, two year deal, so if he did well on trial we'd probably have to pay some sort of transfer fee.

How Saints came to hear about a guy playing in the lower leagues of English football is anybody's guess. Heath scored 38 goals for Halstead last season (though their website claims he is a midfielder!) so clearly knows where the back of the net is, but would he be able to make the step up (or step down, depending on your view) to Scottish first division football? I guess that's what the trial period is all about. Pre-season training begins on the fourth of July and Heath is expected to join up with the squad then.

It is unknown whether Heath will be the only trialist over the summer, but let's hope not. It's always fun having trialists and there was a shortage of them last summer.
