New Stadium Would Benefit Ferguslie

Last updated : 13 September 2004 By Stuart Gillespie
Saints need to sell Love Street to a supermarket chain to clear the debt, and part of the proceeds of the sale would go to building a new ground on Greenhill Road in Ferguslie. With all due respect to the folk who live there, Ferguslie is a dump, and the site for the ground is a huge patch of wasteland which used to have council flats on it. No one else is likely to build there.

Mr Gilmour said: "A new stadium on this derelict site could help attract investment and give Ferguslie prestige."

It's going to take a hell of a lot to give Ferguslie some prestige, but then if Leith in Edinburgh can be trendy anything is possible.
