Monday fixture farce

Last updated : 14 April 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

This will be our second game after the split, with the first a trip to Hibs on a Saturday. That is fine - but the Hamilton game is not.

For starters, it should be away. It was wrong when the SPL sent us to Falkirk three times last season, and it is wrong for them to send Hamilton to Greenhill Road three times. OK, so they need to give an equal balance of home and away games, but why not give us Hibs at home three times and send Hamilton to Easter Road three times? The only two teams playing for anything in the bottom six are ourselves and Hamilton, so why has the game been switched?

The other issue with the game is it'll be live on ESPN at 2pm on Monday, May 2, which is a bank holiday. However, some people - including me - still have to work on such days and will therefore be unable to attend. Cheers ESPN! Cheers SPL!

For the record, the post-split games start at Hibs on April 22, followed by that ridiculous Hamilton game. Things get even worse as we head to Inverness on May 7 before going back up north just days later for a midweek game against Aberdeen. The season comes to an end with a home game against St Johnstone on Saturday, May 14. Hopefully that one will be meaningless!
