Millen not sacked

In the wake of Sunday's cup final defeat to Rangers, Millen and Gilmour were spotted having a rather frank exchange of views on the pitch by BBC Scotland reporter Chick Young. There was reportedly arm waving and pointing, with Millen far from happy about something.

Despite Gilmour denying to Young there was a problem, the reporter said there would almost certainly be more developments in the next few days. Rumours were rife on the internet and in Paisley's pubs on Sunday night that Millen had been given the boot as a result, but Gilmour is quoted in a number of today's papers as saying that's not the case. Here's what he told the Evening Times:

"We had a discussion and it wasn’t heated. Andy was extremely disappointed, as everyone was, at losing a cup final.

"People saw waving of arms but that was the extent of it. I have had people asking me if Andy has been suspended, but I have not even spoken to him. That is absolute rubbish.

"Yes Andy was very emotional after the game, as I’d have expected a number of folk to be, but that was it.I was interviewed after the final and asked if Gus and Andy were still in charge of St Mirren and said yes."

Hardly the most convincing of arguments if I'm honest. The events on the park were nothing to do with the chairman so, unless Gilmour made some sort of snide comment, why would Millen seek him out and proceed to effectively shout at him in public?

It's all very strange and there does seem to be more to this than meets the eye - but I suppose we'll never learn the truth unless one of the parties involved changes their story.
