McLean to go under the knife

The midfielder was subbed during our game against Dundee United and has missed our last three games - in which we've managed just one point. It seems the problem with his knee comes and goes but it's now been decided to get the problem sorted, which means he could be missing for as much as six weeks.

The 21-year-old hasn't had his injury problems to seek in the last year or so. An operation towards the end of 2012 meant he missed the League Cup semi-final win over Celtic, while another injury resulted in him missing the start of this season. On the plus side it means it's unlikely anyone will try to buy him in the transfer window!

Depleting our midfield ranks further is the fact John McGinn is suspended for this weekend's game against St Johnstone (as well as next month's Scottish Cup trip to Dundee United). That leaves us with just Conor Newton - whose loan expires sometime this month - Paul McGowan, who is due in court on Wednesday, and Jim Goodwin for the trip to Perth.
