McGowan has generally done well this season, although there have been times when you wondered if the terms of his loan deal meant he couldn't be dropped or subbed. However, that's been forgotten about in recent months as his performances have stepped up a gear and he has been a key part of the team.
While it may be possible to get him on loan again next season, signing him permanently is a different story. Celtic would be after a fee and there would probably be bigger clubs than us after him, while it's possible he'd prefer to go elsewhere or fight for his place.
So a deal is far from done - especially as we've still to secure our SPL status - but it's good to see Lennon would like to have him next season. Let's hope he can make it a reality.
