Innes set for Saints return

The 32-year-old has plenty of experience, having played in the SPL for Kilmarnock, Dundee United and Gretna. He's also over six foot and would be a decent signing - if we could get him for free.

Livingston's survival - for the time being - may make things difficult on that score, but there must have been a breach of contract at some point in the last month or so that could let him leave for nothing. If there was a fee, it would probably be relatively small. Innes is supposedly on a large wage at Almondvale, but his desire to have another crack at the SPL may make him easy to deal with.

Innes is known to manager MacPherson as the two played together at Kilmarnock. He's also known to Saints fans as he was Tom Hendrie's first signing in 1999, joining on loan from Kilmarnock for a few months. Worryingly, his last two clubs - Gretna and Livingston - have both had huge financial problems during his time at the clubs!
