Double Signing Soon

It was thought that no decision would be made until after tomorrow's Renfrewshire Cup final against Morton, however this does not seem to be the case.

Saints boss Gus MacPherson told BBC Sport tonight: "We have made our decision and it is just about getting the deals done."

On the subject of Dayan he added: "He is very ambitious and wants to come out of Israel and show what he is capable of. He has shown terrific attitude, is technically very good and has physical presence as well."

Dayan has played in four friendlies and the reports from Saints fans who have seen him have, in general, been positive. The striker has been capped for Israeli's under 21 side in the past.

At no point has MacPherson revealed the identity of the Argentine, who played against Dungannon Swifts and Clyde on the left wing. The reports weren't great, but it seems he scored a cracking goal in the second friendly and MacPherson is willing to take a chance on him.

Research by people who have even more time on their hands than me (and that's saying something) reckon the trialist is a chap called Franco Miranda, who has spent the last few years in Sweden with Helsinborg, who former Celtic player Henrik Larsson plays for. This would fit in with MacPherson's claim the player has already played in Europe. Miranda has also played for Boca Juniors in the past.

Since becoming Saints manager, MacPherson hasn't signed a single player who has had a trial period. You have to go back to the triple signing of Barry Lavety, Eddie Annand and David van Zanten in July 2003 for the last trialists to be offered deals.

Even if Dayan and Miranda (assuming it's him) do sign, it seems there will still be another two new arrivals at Love Street before the transfer window closes.
