After weeks of speculation, Saints boss Danny Lennon confirmed yesterday the club had been given permission to speak to the Irishman. Now Carey - who was on loan in Paisley in 2010 - has revealed he would be more than happy to come back.
The player, who was due to discuss his future with Celtic officials yesterday, said: "I don't know what the future holds for me," Carey said. “I am meeting with Celtic this week and try and get things moving on that front.
"I am at the stage of my career where I want regular first-team football. I know I may have to leave Celtic if I'm not going to make the breakthrough.
"I loved my time at St Mirren and would jump at the chance to return."
So, Saints want Carey and Carey would like to come back to Saints. Let's hope it happens.
