Ex Saints: Michael Higdon

Last updated : 17 July 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

Name: Michael Higdon

Current Club: Motherwell

Position: Forward

Saints Career: The big Scouser signed for Saints after leaving Falkirk in 2009. His first season wasn't great and he appeared lazy at times and tried to score wonder goals a wee bit too often - although he did manage one against his former side. The following season he really came alive, bagging 15 goals and scoring a stunning hat-trick against Hamilton - the first ever by a Saint in the SPL and the first by a Buddie in the top flight since the days of Guni Torfason. Higdon was an infuriating player capable of days like that, but also capable of missing sitters, appearing not to be trying or just having a stinker. However, he was also clinical when he felt like it and only four players in the last 20 years have managed more than him in a season - and all of them did it in the first division.

Post Saints Career: Michael was offered a new contract in 2011 but after scoring that many goals for a struggling team, he was always going to be wanted elsewhere. Surprisingly he opted against a move to England and decided to sign for Motherwell.
