Ex Saints: Ian Ross

Name: Ian Ross

Current Club: Scottish FA

Position: Midfielder

Saints Career: The left sided midfielder arrived at Love Street from Motherwell in the summer of 1999 and proved to be a terrific signing with some great runs and crossing down the left helping us to win the title. He even chipped in with the odd goal - all three coming in games we won by big margings. His early introduction as a sub played a key part in us winning the title clincher against Raith Rovers and he looked more than comfortable in the SPL. Unfortunately, an injury after just three games saw him ruled out for more than a year. Whe he returned and got back up to speed he was terrific with some fantastic rampaging runs and goals.

Post Saints Career: Sadly, Ian's talents and our financial problems were always likely to attract admiring glances from elsewhere and he joined SPL Partick Thistle in 2003. However, his injury problems re-emerged and two years later he went on to Alloa before a short stint with Stranraer. After retiring he held a coaching role at Livingston and in 2012 was appointed one of the SFA's new regional performance coaches.
