Ex Saints: Gareth Wardlaw

Last updated : 17 June 2012 By Stuart Gillespie

Name: Gareth Wardlaw

Current Club: East Fife

Position: Forward

Saints Career: There was a muted reaction when the former postie signed from Cowdenbeath in 2010, one of many players Danny Lennon brought with him from Central Park. He'd scored plenty of goals in the second division, but surely he wouldn't cope in the SPL. So it proved. While he was hard working and willing to put himself about, he missed plenty of chances and only seemed to score against teams managed by Craig Brown. Three goals was all he managed - but one, against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, kept us in the SPL and for that Saints fans will always be grateful. An honest player who wasn't afraid to do a shift, he just wasn't up to the job.

Post Saints Career: After being released in 2011, Gareth had a spell training with Falkirk before signing for Ayr - one of his former clubs. He helped put us out of the League Cup before joining East Fife the following summer.
