Ex Saints: Craig Dargo

Last updated : 06 August 2012 By Stuart Gillespie

Name: Craig Dargo

Current Club: Dunfermline Athletic

Position: Forward

Saints Career: There was an excitement when we snared the striker in 2007 following two goal filled seasons with Inverness Caley Thistle. However, he promptly got injured and didn't feature again until December. It was a common problem as his four years with the club saw him get injured, get fit, do well, maybe bag a goal then get injured again. When fully fit his pace, movement and vision were outstanding, but it just didn't happen often enough. Had the honour of scoring Love Street's final goal against Hamilton in late 2008 and our first winning SPL goal against Hearts in 2009. Seemed to specialise in being assaulted by keepers and then being astonished as Willie Collum only booked the assailant.

Post Saints Career: After another season struggling with injury, Danny Lennon decided to let Craig go in the summer of 2011. A trial spell at Dundee fell through due to injury before he joined Partick Thistle until the end of the year. It proved to be a short term deal - Thistle's exit from the Scottish Cup meaning they didn't have the cash to extend it - so quite how Dumbarton could afford him a few months later is a mystery! It proved to be a good move though as he scored the goals that helped fire them into the first division for the first time in 16 years. He then left and after spending the summer looking for a new club he found one, signing for Dunfermline on a deal that also saw him take up a coaching role with the club.
