Name: Andy Millen

Current Club: Unattached

Position: Midfielder/Assistant manager

Saints Career: Andy came to the club from Clyde in late 2003 as assistant to Gus MacPherson. He also kept playing and was pretty solid either in midfield or as a sweeper in defence. He proved to be a useful acquisition and was a vital part of the double winning team of 2005/06. It was thought he would no longer play when we reached the SPL but he featured a fair bit of the 2006/07 season. Ironically he played a key part in a miraculous win over Motherwell that helped us stay up - he gave away a penalty before being replaced by John Sutton! That seemed to be it, but he featured again the following year, becoming the club and the SPL's oldest player. However, it ended sourly - a poor performance against St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup 2008 saw him jeered off and he didn't feature again. He left the club when Gus was sacked two years later.

Post Saints Career: Andy wasn't out of work for long as he was appointed Billy Reid's assistant at Hamilton Accies. He was only there for a few months before he left due to some bizarre contract dispute. In January 2011 he signed for Queen's Park as a player - at the age of 45! Despite helping them into the play-offs, he was let go at the end of the season. He ended up at Queen of the South after that as assistant to old pal Gus. It didn't go well for the pair, who weren't given a great deal to play with, and both left in 2012 after Queens were relegated to the second division.
