It takes some going to make yourself a club legend within three months of making your senior debut, but that's what Conor Newton has managed at Saints. The Geordie midfielder scored the third and decisive goal in the 2013 League Cup Final for the Buddies, ensuring his name would go down in club folklore and he'd never have to buy a drink in Paisley again! He'd progressed a long way from his debut, when he was hooked after just 45 minutes against Ross County following the start of a loan spell from Newcastle. By the end of the campaign he'd added two more goals and had shown he wasn't afraid to get stuck in. After signing a new contract with the Magpies he received a standing ovation when Newcastle came to Paisley for a pre-season friendly and he came on as a sub. That was soon followed by him rejoining the club on loan once more, this time until the end of 2013 - a deal that was later extended to cover the whole season.
