St. Johnstone 1-3 St. Mirren

Brian McGinty scored a hat trick, which is even more shocking. Two penalties and a nutmeg saw Jinty have his first hat trick in senior football. He's taken a lot of stick over the years, and two of the goals might have been penalties, but it's still good to see him score. That takes his tally for the season to six, one against Ross County next week and it's best ever Saints season.

You can imagine my surprise when I put the TV on at half four on Saturday and saw a weird looking number beside our name. Three? Away from home? Aye, nice one. However, when McGinty's name came up as the scorer of all three I was even more shocked.

By my reckoning it's our best away score for two years, when we beat Arbroath 3-0. It's also the most we've scored away all season.

It wasn't all good news though, as Ayr officially went down, so we have to go to Raith again next year.

However, rather comically, our hygenically challenged neighbours from Greenock lost 4-1 to Stenhousemuir, and are now behind Hamilton on goal difference! See you next year indeed.
