Shuggy Murray's big night ended in a Saints victory thanks to a second half goal from Billy Mehmet. Around 1,200 turned out to honour the club captain, who was subbed after an hour.

A decent result considering the dross against Celtic, although it should be remembered Derby lost 6-0 at Anfield on Saturday and were without players due to the international break.

Saints were without one themselves - goalkeeper Chris Smith - meaning Mark Howard made his Saints debut. Also playing was a trialist, believed to be former Clyde and Dundee United midfielder Karim Kerkar. It's anyone's guess what will develop with him, if anything.
