Saints 1-0 Aberdeen

I had to resort to following the game on the radio so this will be brief. There were four changes to the side that beat Alloa on Saturday, with Michael Higdon, John Potter, David Barron and Hugh Murray all back. Making way were Steven Robb, Craig Dargo, Lee Mair and Allan Johnston.

We started brightly with Any Dorman missing a decent early chance, but after that Aberdeen seemed to take control in what was a pretty poor game. They hit the woodwork before, with around 15 minutes left, the miracle of another goal from a corner arrived for Saints. It was Innes who got it once again, but this time the goal machine half voleyed home from 16 yards!

There were a number of nervy moments, especially when Aberdeen put on Tommy Wright - who scored a last minute equaliser in a midweek game against us last year. The Dons hit the post again and put some pressure on, but fortunately the defence were equal to it.

Not the best of performances, but when you've won as few league games as us the most important thing is the result. Two home wins in a row and a first win over Aberdeen in 11 attempts. Rather more importantly, we're now up to seventh, a point behind the Dons and a whole eight points above bottom club Falkirk.
