Ross County 3-0 Saints

It was Richard Brittain who did the damage rather than Graham Carey, the midfielder scoring twice to inflict our second defeat in three games. One point and one goal from our opening games is a fairly shocking statistic and really makes you worry about the season ahead. With Hearts winning the 15 point gap is now down to just nine and Queen of the South must fancy their chances on Tuesday night.

Saints boss Danny Lennon is coming under increasing criticism from the support but there's unlikely to be any action taken against him any time soon. He stuck with the same side that started against Kilmarnock last week but we were behind within 10 minutes thanks to Stuart Kettlewell's goal.

Worse came midway through the first half as Marc McAusland fouled Kevin Luckassen inside the box. Brittain's penalty was saved by David Cornell, but he put away the rebound to have the Staggies - who'd lost all three games so far this season - two up inside half an hour.

A bad day was sealed just before the hour mark when Brittain scored again to finish us off. A terrible day at the office and something that is happening all too often these days. Will it spark action in the transfer market or in the boardroom? Probably not.
