Rangers 2-1 Saints

Last updated : 16 April 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

The last week shows how far we've come. At the start of the season I watched in horror as Celtic thrashed us - now we're disappointed not to take anything from trips to both halves of the Old Firm.

After last week's defensive line-up, Danny Lennon made a number of changes. Out went Lee Mair, Marc McAusland, Kenny McLean and the suspended pair of Hugh Murray and Michael Higdon. In came David van Zanten, Jure Travner, Craig Dargo, Aaron Mooy and Paul McGowan.

Rangers had chances earlier on through Kyle Lafferty and they went in front when Sasa Papac was on hand to score from a rebound after Paul Gallacher had saved a shot from the Northern Irishman.

But we were level by half-time when a fine move ended with Mooy delivering a great cross for McGregor to volley in at the near post in fine style.

Sadly, the predictable happened early in the second half. John Potter was deemed to have fouled Nikica Jelavic - there is a suggestion it was a soft award - and Steven Whittaker slotted it home.

Gareth Wardlaw put a late chance to equalise wide but once again we were left with nothing.

My hope from last week and this week was not to get gubbed, not to get anyone injured and not to get anyone suspended. Job done it seems - let's just hope Hibs beat Hamilton tomorrow.
