Kilmarnock 2-0 Saints

Kilmarnock wanted Danny Lennon in the summer but instead he came to us without talking to them. Mixu Paatelainen was desperate to come to Saints but we weren't interested, so he went to Killie. They're now fourth, we're 11th. Last season we took 10 points off Killie from four games. This season we've managed none.

It simply isn't good enough. Wednesday's win over Motherwell was yet another false dawn. It was almost the same team, with Michael Higdon in for the suspended Paul McGowan, yet it was game over after half an hour. Things improved when Kenny McLean came on at half-time but it was too late by then.

The first goal arrived after 15 minutes, Alexei Eremenko teeing up William Gros for a debut goal. A quarter of an hour later Eremenko turned scorer, firing home from 20 yards with a shot that Paul Gallacher should maybe have saved.

McLean arrived at half-time and hit the post and wehad plenty of possession but didn't do anything with it. Of course, with things not working the only other change Lennon makes is with five minutes left when he replaces Craig Dargo with Mark Lamont - a young midfielder making his debut.

Fortunately, bottom club Hamilton were denied a win over Dundee United with five minutes left. The gap is now seven and they still have a game in hand.

Up next for Saints? Rangers next weekend. It can't possibly end well.
