Hibs 2-3 Saints

This was a much needed three points for us. Without a goal in our last two games, without a point in our last three and on just one win since the start of December, we were struggling. Suddenly we're back up to eighth, three points above second bottom and six off the top six. We're not out of the woods yet but this is a welcome boost ahead of our massive game against Partick Thistle next week.

John McGinn returned in place of Danny Grainger and Marian Kello replaced Christopher Dilo, Gregg Wylde having to make do with a place on the bench. For the second week running we could only name six subs, which is disappointing although partly because the under-20s are abroad at the moment.

After struggling for goals in recent weeks we made the perfect start when a Paul McGowan shot hit the post, then Hibs goalie Ben Williams and ended up in the net after just five minutes. Things got even better when Adam Campbell added a second before he crossed for Steven Thompson to head in the third. All before half-time!

Game over? Not a bit of it. Hibs responded after the break and after Kello saved a shot, James Collins headed in a corner. The same player scored with another header in the final minute to set up a tense finish but we just about clung on, Hibs having a claim for a penalty turned down.

Phew!
