Hearts 3-2 Saints

Last updated : 19 March 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

We lost a late goal, I hear you say? Wrong! In a variation on a theme, we decided to lose two goals instead and turn three points into none. With Hamilton only drawing with St. Johnstone, this was yet another glorious chance to increase the gap. Not only did we not take it, we ended up having the gap cut. Next up? Hamilton - but don't worry, you've got a fortnight to get the pampers ready.

This will be short because I wasn't there and am rather angry. There were a number of changes to the side that faced Aberdeen during the week. Out went John Potter, Hugh Murray, David van Zanten and Craig Dargo. In came Mark McAusland, Kenny McLean, Aaron Mooy and Jim Goodwin.

The changes seemed to work, too, as we battered Hearts in the first half. However, just as with the game against Aberdeen, we only took one. Higdon headed us in front after a quarter of an hour, having already missed a couple of sitters. Before the break, Paul McGowan hit the post.

We were made to pay 10 minutes after the break when the dangerous Rudi Skacel cracked one home from 20 yards. But 15 minutes later we were back in front - Higdon producing a fine goal for his second of the match.

And so we get to the last 10 minutes 2-1 up. Then we fail to deal with a throw-in and Ryan Stevenson equalises. Then, in stoppage time, we fail to deal with a corner and Skacel slams home the winner.

Quite simply, disgraceful and unacceptable. This keeps happening again and again and nothing seems to be done to fix the problem and Mirren Mad will investigate just how many points we've lost through late goals during the international break.

We can have no complaints if we go down. We have had chance after chance to put this situation to bed and keep conceding late goals.
