Dundee 3-2 Saints

I wasn't there so this won't be a detailed report. Dundee went ahead early on from a corner when Bobby Mann headed a rebound over the line. Saints pulled level later on in the first half when Stewart Kean scored at the second attempt.

From that point it seemed that Saints were the better team in the first half, Kirk Broadfoot going on a typical waltzing run and forcing Kelvin Jack into a save. Sadly, despite having the better of the game Dundee scored with just under fifteen minutes left through Simon Lynch, and again a few minutes later thanks to Tam McManus. John Baird deflected a clearance in with a few minutes left to give us hope, but sadly the season started with a defeat.

From talking to people who were there it seems that we can take a lot of positives out of the game as we created chances. However, the game once again highlighted our need for a striker and there also seem to be a few defensive problems.

On Scotsport, David McKinney made the stunning claim that Saints will sign some players in the next few weeks. I wonder how he worked that one out considering Saints boss Gus MacPherson continually says he is hunting for players?
