Aberdeen 2-1 Saints

We only have ourselves to blame. We should have scored so many in the second half on Saturday that Aberdeen's late goal would have been a consolation, rather than an equaliser. Instead, we now find ourselves paying the ultimate penalty. The only good thing is that it would have been Celtic, rather than Caley Thistle, we'd have been facing in the semi-final - hardly an easy route to the final.

Michael Higdon and Kenny McLean turned the game on Saturday, yet only one started - and it was Higdon, who has been better coming off the bench. McLean arrived before the end of the first half, but by then it was already too late. Chris Maguire bundled the ball home after just four minutes and while McLean arrived in the 42nd - replacing Jure Travner - Scott Vernon pretty much wrapped things up before the break.

Saints did get one back late in the second half, Nikola Vujadinovic scoring an own goal with his first touch, but it was too little, too late.

Now time to concentrate in the league. If only we could actually defend in injury time...
