Aberdeen 0-0 Saints

Last updated : 12 May 2012 By Stuart Gillespie

It would seem this was pretty much typical end of season fare. Aberdeen had more opportunities than us but poor finishing and some decent saves from Craig Samson meant they couldn't make it count. Saints, aside from a few Steven Thompson efforts, offered little.

The result means that our poor run of last day form continues - 2004 was the last time we managed a goal and a win in our final game of the season! The result also ensured eighth - bettering our best ever SPL finish by two results. There was still a chance of taking seventh but Kilmarnock's win over Dunfermline made our result irrelevant on that regard.

So that's your lot for this season - although we'll still be here over the summer keeping you up to date with what's happening. If you'd offered me eighth, no involvement in the relegation battle and a finish above both Aberdeen and Hibs this time last year I'd have bitten your hand off for it. Let's hope we can do even better next season.
