Millennium Champions: Off the top

Going into the game we were a couple of points ahead of the Pars and were looking good for the title. 90 minutes later and we found themselves behind after losing to them for the first time all season.

Due to the importance of the game, this was an all ticket match - a rare thing in Paisley in those days. The kick-off was delayed as fans tried to get in, and Saints seemed to assume it had been delayed another few minutes as Stevie Crawford scored extremely early on.

Unsurprisingly, Saints were unsettled and as they tried to get back into the game, Crawford was allowed to stride forward and crack a shot past Ludo Roy with barely half an hour played. Game over.

It was a disappointing performance, but the one bright spot was we had a game in hand against struggling Clydebank in seven days time. And we didn't half redeem ourselves...
