Millennium Champions: Eight in a row

It was made even sweeter by the fact Falkirk were managed by Alex Totten, a rather annoying man who would shortly begin whining that it was unfair Falkirk were being asked to upgrade their stadium, something the rest of us just got in with doing. Falkirk were using this money to strengthen their squad instead, as evidenced by the fact former and future Saint Chris Innes had joined on loan.

It took us just a few minutes to get going, Mark Yardley scoring. Except maybe he didn't. The ball appeared to be going in from his shot, but Sergei Baltacha arrived late to thrash it into the net and make sure of the goal. Pictures later proved the ball hadn't crossed the line before the lanky midfielder's arrival, but the goal was credited to Yards.

Saints went looking for a second after that one, Stephen McGarry passing up a few chances. Unsurprisingly, we paid for that after an hour when Davie Nicholls scored with a header - which was promptly ruled out for offside. Of course, we didn't learn our lesson and the same player scored a valid goal just a few minutes later.

Fortunately, we were quickly back in front, Junior Mendes setting up Barry Lavety to sclaff a shot over the line.

Falkirk pushed in the late stages but couldn't grab an equaliser. However, there was bad news as Ludovic Roy had picked up a nasty injury that was to rule him out for some time - leaving us with Derek Scrimgour for the trip to Inverness.
