Know the Ref - Hearts home

Written by Stuart Gillespie
Wednesday, 30th September 2009
We desperately need a win on Saturday, so news of the official for Hearts' trip to Paisley is not good. It's Brian Winter - and we've lost every game in which he's been the man in the middle.
Let's rattle through the hall of shame, shall we? Last season: away defeats to Dundee United and Aberdeen, a home loss to Motherwell. The year before: a destruction by Falkirk at Love Street. 2006/07: we lose at Parkhead and Tannadice, the latter perhaps controversial as I seem to remember some sort of incident that went against us, although I can't remember exactly what it was. Even the title season saw us hammered 4-0 by Dundee. In short, seven games, seven defeats, two goals scored. Not pretty.

Things are better if you're a Hearts fan. He took their cup game last week when they beat Dunfermline, and last season was in charge of home wins over Motherwell and Dundee United. Games involving the Jambos and Dunfermline seem to be a speciality. There was a Hearts League Cup win in 2007/08, a league win in 2006/07 (where Dunfermline had a man sent off) and a draw at Tynecastle the same season. His only other Hearts game was later that season where they drew at home with Aberdeen, Barry Nicholson amusingly sent off after over celebrating his last minute equaliser.

So, a horrendous record for games involving us and a superb one for games with Hearts. I wonder how Saturday will go...
