Know the Ref - Alloa Athletic home

Mr Finnie was the referee when we beat Brechin City at this stage last season, giving us a penalty and disallowing a City goal in a 3-1 win at Glebe Park. What a nice man. He also sent off Hamilton keeper Tomas Cerny when he poleaxed Craig Dargo last season in a 0-0 draw at New Douglas Park. Not quite so good was when we played Accies with this ref earlier in the season. We lost 2-0 and had Lee Mair sent off - probably correctly.

Mr Finnie's other league games with ourselves also saw us fail to hit the back of the net. One was a goalless draw in December 2006 against Dunfermline that Soccerbase claims was Mr Finnie's first game and the others were a 2-0 defeat to Hibs and another dull draw with Gretna in 2007/08.

Soccerbase shows up four Alloa games so far for this official. The most recent was a 1-0 defeat to East Fife last season when the Wasps conceded a penalty. The previous season they beat Berwick 2-1 thanks to a penalty of their own as each side finished with 10 men - Berwick having their goalie dismissed! The games in 2006/07 were a home draw with rivals Stirling and another draw with Cowdenbeath.

Lee Mair is the only player this official has sent off this season and Soccerbase claims it was also Mr Finnie's most recent game. Seems a bit odd. Hopefully this apparent rustiness won't manifest itself on Saturday.
