It's perhaps appropriate that Stevie O'Reilly will be the referee for our final game of the season against Aberdeen on Saturday, as he was the official when we kicked off against East Stirlingshire way back in July.
On a bizarre day, Saints raced into a 3-0 lead, were pagged back to 3-3 and then ended up winning 6-3. It was the first of three games so far this season for Mr O'Reilly. The next was a dramatic 3-3 match with Motherwell at St. Mirren Park and he awarded the visitors a rather soft penalty that day. In January he oversaw our defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle and while he awarded a spot-kick again, that time it was fairly stonewall.
Last season, Mr O'Reilly oversaw another high scoring Saints game as we thrashed Dumbarton 7-0. He was also in charge of our 1-0 away win over Kilmarnock and our 3-2 defeat at Dundee United, although he did give us a penalty.
Strangely, this is only this official's second game with Aberdeen. The first was against Hibs at Easter Road last season and ended in a 2-2 draw, the hosts scoring in the last minute.
Despite this being the end of the season, Mr O'Reilly has shown just one red card this season - and I'd have no problems if that was still the case after Saturday.
