Know the Ref - Aberdeen away

The initial signs aren't good. The last time he did one of our games was in December when we lost 3-2 to Dundee United, who were down to 10 men. That may not be much of a surprise after Sunday, but in fairness they were already 2-0 up before Morgaro Gomis was sent off. The good news is that Mr Winter's other Saints game this season saw us beat Hearts 2-1.

Worryingly, his other seven games involving us saw seven defeats - and just two goals. Last season we lost to two late goals at Tannadice, were beaten 3-1 at home by Motherwell and also lost at Pittodrie to some more late goals. 2007/08 saw a 5-1 hammering by Falkirk (Steven Thomson scoring a good goal for Falkirk), with the year before seeing defeats to Celtic and Dundee United away from home. Even the title season was bad as the only game Mr Winter took charge of was a 4-0 hammering by Dundee! It's clear we don't like the Aberdeen/Dundee area when it comes to him taking charge of our games.

By contrast, Aberdeen's only game so far this season with this official was a 3-0 hammering of Hamilton Accies. Aside from the win over us last season there was also a 1-0 cup win at Ayr. 2007/08 saw draws away to Hibs and Gretna as well as a good 2-1 win over Dundee United.

There were a total of five Aberdeen games for Mr Winter in 2006/07 and the Dons didn't lose any. They beat Falkirk 2-0, drew with Hibs and Hearts (Barry Nicholson sent off for celebrating his last minute equaliser at Tynecastle) and also beat Dunfermline and Aberdeen. The other two Aberdeen games this official has done were a hammering of Hibs in 2005/06 and a cup win over Arbroath the previous season.

So, we've won just one game with Mr Winter, while Aberdeen haven't lost. That doesn't bode well!
