Most of the youngsters have been taking part in a training camp abroad for the last few weeks and this was their first game of 2014. Unfortunately, the young team - featuring no experienced first teamers - couldn't quite get a point to kick off the New Year in style.
Danny Handling headed Hibs in front midway through the first half and just before the break Tom Gardiner put them in front with another header. Jon Scullion got one back with 20 minutes left but the young Buddies were unable to find an equaliser to snatch a point.
