You're allowed to play overage players in the under-20s and as well as fielding goalie Grant Adam, Saints took the chance to play Darren McGregor and Lee Mair in defence. The latter played the first half in a bid to show he is fit for Sunday's League Cup Final, while McGregor was playing his first game since he suffered a horrific knee injury against Hibs in August. He played an hour and will be looking to get a few more games under his belt in the coming weeks.
The return of the defensive duo was about the only good news. Mark Williams had given Saints the lead in the second half but Dunfermline then scored three times to take the win.
