Stirling Albion v Saints Preview

Pre-season friendlies mean nothing, however only drawing with teams like Dumbarton and Stirling Albion is only going to annoy fans who don't take much upsetting at the moment. There's no points up for grabs in these games (although there is a cup at stake on Saturday) and it's easy to say in advance that these games don't matter, but that usually changes when we fail to win!

It's hard to believe it's now over ten long years since Hugh Murray's stunning strike at Forthbank kept us in the first division (and probably in business). Shuggy didn't start last night's game against Dumbarton so should be in from the start tonight. The same goes for the likes of Will Haining, Andy Dorman and summer signing Tom Brighton. Jack Ross misses out with a head injury, while it's unlikely that trialist Dominic SHimmin will feature two nights running. Whether or not there are any other trialists on display remains to be seen.

Stirling were relegated from the first division last season - ten years after we sent them down - and will be looking to bounce back up at the first attempt. They have a number of ex Saints on their books, including David McKenna, David Lowing and John O'Neill, who is also a coach at Forthbank. Former Stranraer, Clyde and Hamilton striker Ian Harty was good four or five years ago but seems to have gone off the rails since then and will be looking to regain his past form with the Binos this season.
