Stirling Albion v Saints Preview

Taking an embarrasing result in the league cup a few years back out of the equation, it's our first visit to Forthbank since THAT game back in 1998. 2nd May 1998 to be exact, a date I'll always remember for the Battle of Stirling II. It might seem a bit dramatic, but it was an important came, certainly the most important in the clubs recent history.

Without a win in a few months, we were one point ahead of second bottom Stirling, with two games left. if we lost, we were as good as down. That wasn't the major worry for me, the major worry was that the club would go bust, out of business, or at best Love Street would be sold (funny how we look on it being sold off 6 years later as a good thing!). Shuggy Murray scored the only goal, an absolute screamer which he celebrated in fine style and was booked for. Saints won, and with other results going our way, we were safe. Result!

There are few injury doubts ahead of tonight's game. Fullbacks Laurie Ellis and David van Zanten are the only doubts, after picking up knocks on Monday night. Allan Russell was notable by his absence on Monday, will he feature tonight? No doubt the rest of the first team squad will at one point.

Results in friendlies don't matter, but I won't say no to a win :-)
