Saints v Saints Preview

Well that's not quite true. What i meant to say was that there would be no problems with the weather. There will of course be the problem of the home side's starting lineup. Every week we hope and pray that Craig Hinchcliffe will be back, Kevin McGowne dropped, Barry Lavety on the bench at least and, recently, Andy Millen missing. Yet, over the last few weeks it seems these guys can do nothing which causes Gus MacPherson to change the lineup. Stevie Woods keeps his place in the lineup despite being rubbish, McGowne still starts despite the fact I could outrun him, Basher is always missing and Millen is usually there. Why?

On the official site's forum, the fans have been posting their team slections for tomorrow's game. Not one has Woods, McGowne or Millen in the starting lineup. If we can see that, how on earth can't MacPherson? I'm all for not changing a winning team, but we're not even getting points or goals, let alone wins. We've scored sod all goals yet Brian McGinty always starts. Coincidence? I don't think so. It's time that we either start Lavety or don't. Having said that, there's rumours of him having had a bust up with MacPherson, in which case he can force his ample frame fthrough the exit door.

It's time for soem youngsters to be given a chance up front. At worst they won't score, which is what superstars like McGinty or doing. David McKenna, Scott Gemmill, Jeff Ferguson and others seem to be scoring for the under 19s, so why not let them have a chance instead of guys who do sod all? They may be young, but so is Wayne Rooney. More importantly, so was Hugh Murray when he scored the goal against Stirling Albion to keep us up, and in business.

Eddie Annand, Kevin Twladdle and Laurie Ellis are all still out. There are doubts over Lavety (though whether these are Iain Nicolson-eqsue doubts) and MacPherson but the rest are fit. I'd love to get into Love Street tomorrow and see Hinchcliffe playing and no sign of McGowne, McGinty and Millen, but I doubt it.

St. Johnstone are going great guns at the moment and could still win the league. With the way we're playing they could easily have 3 or 4, such is the sad state of affairs at Love Street.
