Saints v Queen of the South Preview

Last updated : 26 November 2004 By Stuart Gillespie
Saints are on good form going into this game, having won their last two games. Sadly that was the sort of run we'd had before playing Queen of the South the last time! We have a fully fit squad, with striker Mixu Paatelainen likely to start now that he is fully fit again. John O'Neill could also start after making do with a place on the bench in recent weeks. This is more good news, as O'Neill scored twice against his old club last season and, with the unwritten laws of football, could be on to score again tomorrow.

Mark Dempsie is meant to be fit but probably won't make the squad due to the good performances of the defence is recent weeks. Dempsie has yet to make a first team appearance this season, thanks to being injured at the start of the season and picking up more knocks, and it is extremely likely that the former Hibs man will move on soon. One former Hibs defender who won't be moving soon is Kirk Broadfoot, having signed a two year deal yesterday. Hopefully he'll celebrate the extension with a good performance tomorrow.

Queen of the South have a few injuries ahead of tomorrow, but nothing really major. Brian McLaughlin ripped us apart in Dumfries, and unfortunately he is fit again. Steve Bowey is fit, which is more bad news as he is a superb player who I would love to have in the Saints lineup. He's surely due an off day, hopefully it's tomorrow!

It's third v fourth, but eight points separate the two sides. Hopefully after tomorrow it will be up to 11.
