Saints v Inverness Caledonian Thistle Preview

For once, Saints have few injury worries ahead of a game. John O'Neill is the only major doubt, although player/boss Gus MacPherson will probably be missing as well. There are also doubts over the fitness of Mark Dempsie, but hopefully he'll return and replace Captain Chaos in defence.

Eddie Annand could finally show the St. Mirren fans what they've been missing all season. The striker was on the bench last week against Clyde and, having played in a bounce game during the week, may get a run out for the first time under MacPherson. Laurie Ellis is also back from injury and may make an appearance, whilst prodigal son Barry Lavety has recovered from his latest set back and will hopefully appear on the bench. After last week's performance in the second half, Allan Russell must surely be reinstated to the starting lineup.

Unfortunately for Saints fans, Caley Thistle will still be in division one next season, even if they win the league. Whilst St. Johnstone have a compliant stadium, and Falkirk and Clyde have groundshares set up, Caley Thistle have neither of these. Their stadium doesn't have undersoil heating and s well short of ten thousand seats, and their board didn't bother trying to arrange a groundshare with Aberdeen.

Fortunately, if we are in the same division as Caley Thistle next season (i.e., we stay up), it looks like they won't have bogey man Paul Ritchie playing for them. Since Saints decided not to sign him whilst on trial, he's managed almost a goal a game against Saints, including two hat tricks.

Even without Ritchie, Caley are Saints bogey team. It's 11 games without a win against them, and 4-0 wins at Love Street have finished off both Tom Hendrie and John Coughlin as managers. It's time for payback, so lets hope we can finish off their title challenge tomorrow.
