Saints v Dundee Preview

Dundee seem to have a habit of sacking managers whilst their team is top of the league. The last time they were in division one, they sacked John McCormack despite being miles clear. At the end of August, Jim Duffy got the boot despite having the club top and unbeaten after a few games. The sacking came shortly after a defeat to Stranraer in the league cup, something most of the Dundee fans on the web claimed was unacceptable, proving they think they're a big club (were they ever in the last ten years?) Allan Kernaghan hasn't done much since his arrival, and must be shocked still to find himself in a job after he too failed to beat Stranraer last week.

Dundee were expected to bounce straight back to the SPL this season, as are most teams who actually manage the near impossible task of being relegated from it. However, as we all find out, it's not that simple. Unless you throw a load of cash at it Hibs style, it's viertually impossible to go straight back up. Partick Thistle found that out last season, stumbling from one embarrassment to the next before comically being relegated. Dundee aren't quite that bad, and in Simon Lynch have a striker who certainly knows how to get goals.

John Sutton is also a striker who knows how to score goals, as was demonstrated by his fine double for Saints against Ross County last weekend. Sutton was on loan at Dundee last season but most of their fans don't rate him, probably because he joined another first division club. The partnership of Sutton and Stewart Kean seems to be gelling now and it would make a change if it was one of our players scoring against their former clubs, as we're usually on the receiving end of that.

Saints have just two injury worries ahead of tomorrow, with Ryan McCay and Brian McGinty not quite being fit enough to return to the first team squad after injury. Mark Reilly might make the squad, whilst Craig Hinchcliffe will bench warm as he isn't fully fit.

Dundee have lost their last four matches at Love Street, whilst we're unbeaten at home this year. A 1-0 Dundee win then!
