Saints v Airdrie United Preview

We're struggling big time at the moment. Since our glorious gubbing of Partick Thistle at Firhill, we've won once in the league. That was the following week against Raith Rovers thanks to a penalty. We've drawn with Partick, and lost to Airdrie, St. Johnstone, Falkirk, Hamilton and Raith. We have managed a win, against Hamilton, but it was in the cup. We've slipped down to fifth, and are now involved in the fringes of the relegation fight. It's a situation in desperate need of change.

Something else which needs to change is the starting lineup. Why on earth does it remain the same when it isn't working? Allan Russell was superb when he came on against Hamilton in the cup, yet didn't start last week. He did come on for Brian McGinty at half time, so surely it's time for him to start and McGinty to be dropped until he's learnt how to score goals. John Baird will definitely be out of the team, as he's suspended, whilst Kevin McGowne may miss out due to a niggling injury.

I don't like Airdrie United. I think I've made this clear before, but incase you've forgotten, I hate them after the way they put Clydebank out of business. They did, however, manage to redeem themselves ever so slightly by comically beating Morton to the second division title last season.

The Saints defence need to be on top form tomorrow as Airdrie have some decent players. 94 year old Owen Coyle is still carrying on and banging them in, and is getting closer to his 300th. Former Saint Mark Roberts scored a last minute winner against us back in September and will be hoping to score again, whilst youngsters Allan Gow and Willie McLaren are being chased by some high profile teams. All could pose problems tomorrow.

Saints desperately need to get a win tomorrow, but Airdrie are on great form and I think they'll sneak it 1-0.
