Saints v Aberdeen Preview

It's been a long year with some highs (the last 40 minutes against Motherwell) and some lows (insert heavy defeat of your choice here). However, Wednesday's superb win has improved the mood and will hopefully push the players on to a good result tomorrow ahead of the crucial midweek clash against Gretna.

It would be harsh to drop any of the performers in the Boxing Day victory over Hearts for reasons other than injury, so hopefully we'll stick with the same starting lineup. Stephen McGinn is starting to look like the goalscoring midfielder we have been screaming out for for 18 months and must keep his place in the starting lineup. John Potter has looked shaky in recent outings but was apparently superb in Edinburgh and is likely to start again. In fact, the whole 11 should start again if fit - but most of us thought we'd go with the same team that played Kilmarnock when we faced up to the Jambos and look how wrong we were!

On the injury front, Franco Miranda picked up a slight knock at Tynecastle but should be fit, while Andy Millen has had a toenail removed and it may be a wee while until he's back. Craig Dargo was an unused sub against Hearts after picking up a small stran in training and he may well be kept fresh for the Gretna game. Will Haining, Stephen O'Donnell and Richard Brittain are all still out, while Hugh Murray starts a two game suspension.

While we were beating Hearts, Aberdeen made things even better by drawing with Gretna - although they would have won but for a last minute equaliser. The result meant the gap is back up to nine points - hopefully the worst it will be after tomorrow with Gretna going to Parkhead. The Dons recently progressed to the last 32 of the UEFA Cup - a superb achievement for a Scottish Club outwith the Old Firm - but in the last few games seem to be suffering a hangover from that. Hopefully that will continue tomorrow. Lee Miller and Jamie Smith are the danger men, with Scott Severin and Barry Nicholson also posing a threat.

Our home form has been terrible while our away form has been decent, so for that reason I think the Dons will win by a couple.
