Raith Rovers v Saints Preview

Sorry to start insuch a pessimistic way, but it's true with Saints. Just when you think we're about to start something good, we do something silly. Tomorrow is perfectly set up for this. Raith have one point and sit bottom, Saints have loads of points and sit top. A home win for Raith then.

Fortunately, Saints have a fully fit squad to choose from, and no one is suspended or bench warming for Scotland's under 21 side. The only possible doubt will be player/assistant manager Andy Millen. Millen was expected to miss last week's game against Partick Thistle, but incredibly played the full 90 minutes without anyone realising he had a back injury. If it has cleared up sufficiently he'll probably be playing again, and Saints will no doubt go with an unchanged lineup. One possibly change, and the only obvious one I can think of, is to replace Simon Lappin with Laurie Ellis, as Simon has been poor for Saints in recent weeks. Ellis will no doubt be wanting to get one over on his former club, who ditched him after he helped them win the second division in 2002/03.

As I've mentioned before, Raith Rovers are currently winless and sit bottom of division one. The reason? Simple. Claude Anelka, brother of manchester City's moody striker Nicolas. In the summer he effectively bought the managers job at Stark's Park. Out went Antonio Calderon and all the Spaniards he had brought in, in came someone whose only football experience is being an agent. He has brought with him a load of players from non league sides in France and Slovakia, and that is the main reason for their lack of success. The players seem to be abslutely rubbish, although the strikers are supposedly half decent.
Raith have struggled, and the fact they have a point is a miracle in itself.

So, an easy three points for Saints? No chance. We'll be lucky to get a point, and I think Raith will win 2-0.
