Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Saints Preview

Technically that's not true; the team are staying overnight at a hotel in Aviemore, but you know what I mean. The hotel stay is actually why the game is taking place tomorrow rather than on Tuesday like four other SPL games. Saints originally asked for the game to be moved, Caley refused so Saints booked their hotel rooms. Understandably, when Caley recently said they'd changed their minds Saints told them to sod off!

Saints will be forced to make changes to the side that recorded a fantastic draw against Rangers yesterday. Hugh Murray fractured his cheek bone and will be missing for some time, whilst Simon Lappin is also a doubt after picking up a head knock yesterday. On the plus side, John Sutton and John Potter could both be fit enough to return if they've overcome the effects of the virus. Mark Corcoran has been in excellent form recently, but may be too tired out to start the match. Stewart Kean, Alex Burke, Brian McGinty, Iain Anderson and Craig Molloy are all definitely out, whilst Billy Mehmet is a doubt.

Inverness has never been a happy hunting ground for Saints. We've only won twice there, and we've only beaten them twice at Love Street since they entered the league in the mid 1990s. More often than not, we've ended up on the receiving end of a 4-0 hammering - regardless of where the game took place. That's changed this season, however. We opened the season with a fantastic 2-1 win at the Caledonian Stadium, and drew 1-1 in October.

One player sure to come in for a load of abuse from the few Saints fans brave/stupid (delete as applicable) to make the long journey tomorrow is Ross Tokely. Most of us still haven't forgotten his disgraceful, disgusting and vicious assault on Chris Kerr in Paisley in the early part of the 1999/2000 season. We've already had the fun of seeing Paul Hartley being sent of this season, can Tokely become the latest player we love to hate to be sent off this season?

I said earlier that the hammerings by Caley Thistle seem to be a thing of the past, however I think they'll return tomorrow. We're down to the bare bones and even some of those players aren't fully fit. An easy Caley win I'm afraid.
