Hamilton Academical v Saints Preview

Football should be played on grass, unless the plastic pitch is like grass in every way, in that there are no burns or no incredibly silly bounces. If it's like grass, but more durable and all weather, I'm all for it. Sadly, the day that happens is quite far off.

Saints will be on a high after Tuesday's exciting win over local rivals Morton (don't think I'll ever tire of saying that), although we may suffer due to playing an extra half hour than Hamilton in midweek. Ryan McCay, Mark Reilly and Brian McGinty are all still missing due to injury, whilst Craig Hinchcliffe will bench warm once more.

Hopefully, we will see a return to the 3-5-2 formation after Tuesday night's attempt at a 4-4-2. It probably would have worked had the midfield pairing not been Andy Millen and Kirk Broadfoot! Broadfoot is not a midfielder and Millen was so bad that Saints boss Gus MacPherson actually substituted him. Considering how bad Millen has been in the past, that shows just how poor he was!

Hamilton spent most of the summer months stealing the Clyde team, although an attempt to buy Broadwood as well failed. Billy Reid jumped ship, bringing with him his boring style of football, as have a few other players. One of them was Ian Harty, who has yet to play for the Accies although could do tomorrow. If he does he'll no doubt score, as most players on their debuts do against Saints.

Tomorrow's match won't really have much bearing on the cup final, as the players won't be as tired by then. Due to the extra half our and penalties we had to play on Tuesday, I reckon Hamilton will win 1-0.
